Montessori Radmoor

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe we are into our fourth week of school and that we have already had to have a day called off due to weather related incidents!  The students are very busy with their work and rekindling old connections with old work partners and making new connections with new work partners!

The children are enjoying making new friends at lunch time. There is an art to making conversation with someone you do not know that well. They are working very hard to master the art of conversation. I know that all of you have read the Elementary Handbook for our policies but would like to remind everyone, as we have reminded the students, that we want them to have very healthy lunches to feed their growing brains! Food that is closer to the actual plant, the more nutritional benefit. As an example, a carrot holds more nutrition in it than a carrot muffin. The less processed the better. Also, please remember that dessert type foods are also discouraged as they are empty calories. We all enjoy sweet treats sometimes but we ask that these special treats are with you at home and not brought to school.

It is a wonderful thing to see bright and shiny faces come to school every morning. We enjoy opening the front door and greeting your children as they walk back and head to class. We would like to thank all of you for making this transition with your child.

We are looking forward to our field trip to watch the process of making apple butter on Thursday, October 8th. Permission slips went home last week. It is a very old tradition in Michigan demonstrating a way to use apples that might not be used for baking. The cauldron that used is over 100 years old! It is a great way for your child to see a bit of Michigan History in action. Thank you in advance to those parents who are able to drive us  to Fenner Park.

Please remember that Friday, November 6th is “Taste of Radmoor” from 7 to 11pm. This is a great way to visit with friends, taste delicious food and bid at our live auction.  You will be able to purchase tickets on line or at the front desk next week.

Please remember First Friday is on October 2nd from 8:45 to 9:15.

The best way to contact us is via email. We check our email on a daily basis in the morning before school begins. You can also call the school and leave a message on our personal message line. If you have an emergency the best way to contact us is through Jamie at the front desk. She will relay the message to us for a faster response. Please allow a 24 hour period for responses to the email and phone messages.

Thank you all for your continued support!

Danielle, Christine and Sara
