Montessori Radmoor

If you have paid a visit to our classroom recently, you may have seen our latest experiment. Ms. Jackie taught the group about the process of fermentation, and we are attempting to make a batch of pomegranate vinegar. The children observe the process and jot down notes on the changes they see occurring in the large glass jar.

In a similar way, I’ve been observing changes and growth in your children. Things that were difficult are becoming easier as concepts are mastered. Handwriting is changing, math problems are getting longer and more complex, and the sentences being written are including new parts of speech. It has been wonderful to observe and help these changes along.

We have been busy in the classroom, studying common and decimal fractions, weight, roots of plants, and Haiku poetry. The early onset of winter brought us lots of excitement as we watched the flakes falling down, and some children were prompted to begin charting the weather. Hopefully this winter won’t be as harsh to us as last!

Working in the classroom this semester has been such fun for me. Thank you for welcoming me and for all your help and support with special functions. I look forward to being in the library come January and continuing to watch the change and growth in this wonderful group of children.

Happy holidays to you all!

Sincerely,

Kate
