Montessori Radmoor

We have been very busy lately.  Special Person’s Day was a great success. The students had a grand time showing their guests some of the things they do during the school day. We have been busy baking for our community service project. This is a great practical life activity that utilizes their knowledge of fractions and conversions of measurements. I do believe it is forever imbedded in their minds that there are three teaspoons to one tablespoon! I would also like to take this time to thank the parent volunteers that were able to help the younger children bake. I am happy to say that I was able to oversee the E2 students make many recipes, but on the whole they were able to do the majority of the baking themselves!

We have finished watching Tales from the Green Valley. It is a show that was put on by the BBC that showed what life was like for European farmers during the Tudor period. The children are now choosing a subject area that they are interested in and doing further research. All of this will be displayed at International Night.

We have had many cold days lately, please double check with your children that they are bringing the appropriate gear for wet and cold outside weather: winter coat, snow pants, boots mittens or gloves, scarf and hat.  It is always better to be too warm than too cold! You can take off a layer.

Please remember that the Holiday Concert is December 16th.  The children should arrive at 6:45 p.m.

This year we have several students that are participating in “Nutcracker in a Nutshell” that is performed at the Hannah Center. Please come and support the students.  It will be held on December 19th.

There are also a few alumni students that are participating in the Nutcracker Ballet that is on December 12th and 13th at the Fowlerville High School Alverson Center for the Performing Arts.

Both are great opportunities to support the local arts and enjoy a great family event.   Posters for these events are on the community events board in the hallway by the family mailboxes.

Thank you very much for your time,

Christine
