Montessori Radmoor

Hello all!

I love to see the children reunite after the summer.  They were excited to see each other again.   The second and third year children have really welcomed the new students into the class.  It is wonderful to see the older boys and girls helping the new children around the classroom.

The classroom has been busy so far this year. The practical life area has been popular this past month. They have been polishing, table scrubbing, flower arranging and grinding coffee to name some of the popular activities.  Lately, puzzle maps have been the choice of many children.  The younger children have been working on learning the routines of choosing a work, completing it and then putting it neatly away. Some of them have been working with the golden beads and moveable alphabet work.  Others have been writing words from the picture cards with the moveable alphabet.    It’s always great to watch how they explore the classroom materials and learn new things.

Grace and courtesy lessons have been ongoing this past month.   We have been discussing many different situations and talking about solutions.  Some examples of what we are talking about are: using walking feet in the class, walking around people and their rugs, how to interrupt and wait for your turn.   We also have begun to talk about friends and what that means.  It is hard for some children to understand that you can have more than one friend and just because your friend is playing with someone else doesn’t mean you are not friends.

Conferences are coming up at the end of October so make sure you sign up for a time.  Conferences are on Thursday October 30th and Friday October 31st.

If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to contact me.

Rachel
