Montessori Radmoor

The children had a wonderful time last week making items for the bake sale.  The children made chocolate covered marshmallows and chocolate covered pretzels.  In the next two weeks the children will be to making their gifts for their families and will take them home before winter break.  Some children have been using the moveable alphabet to make cards to give to family members and also making lists of what they want for the holidays.  The children have been practicing their wrapping with the new gift wrapping work that is out.  We have many maps being worked on and golden bead work.  Table scrubbing and painting have been popular choices in the last couple of weeks as well.

Quite a few children have been visiting the library daily and then they share their books with their friends.  We have been talking about the grace and courtesies that we should use.   Some of the ones we have been talking about are walking around people, saying excuse me, please and thank you. Also we have been talking about when and how to interrupt someone.

With the cold weather comes the need for warm winter gear for outside.  The children are given extra time to practice getting all their outside clothes on.  I encourage them to put on as much as they can on their own.  This allows the children to get ready at their own pace, as well as, not to having to wait on a teacher to help them. If they try on their own and still can’t get ready then the teachers are there to assist them.  Give your child opportunities to be as independent as possible while getting dressed.  If they struggle with a certain piece of clothing allow them the opportunity to practice.  This will help eliminate frustrations when your child is getting ready to go outside.

Look in your family mailbox this week for your child’s midyear evaluation.  If you have any questions or concerns about anything in the evaluation, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
