Montessori Radmoor

Hope this finds you all well.  Here’s an update on what we have been up to…

First, I would like to thank the parents I met with during our conference break.  It is always a pleasure to meet and share what your children have been learning in their environment and to answer some questions you may have regarding your child.  Prior to our winter break in December, you will also receive a Progress Report with information about the various lessons your child has received and information about their social growth.   Please feel free to contact me regarding any questions you might have about our conference or the reports.

photo (2)I would like to extend a big “thank you” to Bhargava’s parents, Madhavi and Rajesh!  On November 4th, Madhavi Thombre and Rajesh Kulkarni came in to celebrate Diwali.  This is India’s most important holiday of the year, sometimes called “Festival of Lights”.  The festival began as a celebration of the last harvest of the year before winter and a time for Indians to thank Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth, for the harvest and to get her blessings for the New Year.  Madhavi and Rajesh, along with Bhargava, shared with us some of the traditions of this holiday, brought us all a special traditional dessert and worked with the children to create their own lanterns.  Thank you again for sharing with us.

Another “thank you” to Betul Bilgin, Omer’s mother, for allowing Omer to share his love of his new sister, Azra, with us.  We all enjoyed hearing about Azra, and how Omer has become such an amazing big brother.   We hear he likes to sing to her, and she loves it!  For the children, sharing how babies communicate is a great way for us to discuss how we grow and learn to express what our needs are through language.

We are enjoying the month of November- singing songs about turkeys, the First Thanksgiving and the land where we live.  We are learning the parts of the turkey and discussing what Thanksgiving is all about.

**Please remember that cold weather is here and warm coats, hats and gloves/mittens are necessary for your child to enjoy their outdoor time.

It was great to see so many of you who attended our “Journey and Discovery” this last Saturday.  I hope you enjoyed the opportunity to put yourselves in the role of your child, and that you learned a few things about the way that your child is learning.

We are all looking forward to Special Person’s Day on Friday, November 22nd.  This day is such a wonderful time for your child to share some of the things that they do at school with their guest.

Thanks for reading, and have a happy Thanksgiving holiday!

Trish
