Montessori Radmoor

Hello to all of our T1 parents. I would like to say goodbye to Brady who moved to Grand Rapids.  Our new children are adjusting well and we are so happy to have them in our class. We have many busy workers in our room right now. Most of our children have been using our practical life activities. Table washing, mopping, washing the easel, and dish washing, seem to be among the favorites. We also made oat bran muffins which the children enjoyed preparing, baking, and eating.

In small group, we used our senses to touch, smell, and taste oranges. This was a big hit, especially the tasting part. For the month of February the toddlers will taste a variety of grapes. We’ll have a taste test to see which grapes the children like best.

Cooking and baking are fun to explore with toddlers. From making a simple salad to making fresh blueberry muffins toddlers can help. Toddlers can brush oil in the muffin tins, spoon in the batter, and toddlers love to pour and mix things. If you’re making a salad, toddlers can tear the lettuce, cut the cucumbers, or pour on the dressing   If you’re bored at home and can’t go outside because of the winter weather, try cooking or baking. The children even love to do the dishes. Toddlers love bubbles.

By the way, even though it has been really cold outside, it is hot in our room. No need for too many layers. You can always send in a sweater or sweatshirt that we can add when going to the gym or going outside.

Also, please leave extra toys at home or in the car before coming to school. It’s harder to leave these things with parents at the door or put in their cubbies. Toddlers are curious and they do open up cubbies. These special items may get lost or misplaced.

Please remember that we will be closed February 14th through February 18th for President’s day weekend and our professional development.

If you haven’t signed up for conferences coming up March 13 and 14th, please go to I volunteer and sign up.

It has been such a joy watching the older children take on new responsibilities. Some are learning to help the younger children. Some of our younger children are learning new words every day. Watching their vocabularies grow and seeing how interested they are in learning new words has been exciting.

Thank you for sharing your children with us. Our class is really blooming!

Kristy, Chandrani, and Jessica
