Here we are at the end of another great year in the Toddler community.  We have been busy transplanting flowers from our greenhouse into our garden, as well as planting seeds and watering it all!  We’ve also been taking turns trying out our new daily bread making activity.  You may be tasting the results soon!  We’ve also had visits from some interesting animals, a white cockatoo and a green parrot.  With the end of our school year fast approaching we are getting ready to say goodbye to some of our classmates.  In the fall, Alan, Ari, Henry and Noah will be moving on to the Primary classes.  Soon these graduating toddlers will start visiting the primary classes.  These visits will include taking short walks to the different classes with 1 or 2 children at a time and 1 adult.  This gives our toddlers moving up a chance to become familiar with the 3-6 environments and makes transitioning in the fall much easier.  The toddlers usually love visiting where the “big” kids are, and have a great time.  It’s been amazing to watch these toddlers grow this year.  Their concentration, independence, coordination , self confidence and language have exploded this year.  They have served as the leaders of our toddler community and we will miss them!!!

Returning to our class in the fall are Adi, Beth, Emma, Eloise, Hyojun, Seneca, Thelo and Vaibhav.  The children have learned so many things from living in a community of friends from social interaction to grace and courtesy skills.  They are so amazing!  Our youngest children who started in January are using work rugs, saying more words and cleaning up after themselves.  They have learned all these things by watching the older children in the classroom.  The Montessori philosophy is such a beautiful thing!  It allows children to blossom in a natural, comfortable manner.

Take some time this summer for a nature walk with your children.  Go to the library and let your toddler pick out some books.  Play outside and enjoy the wonders of the world through the eyes of your children.  They have so much curiosity and find joy in the observation of nature and the creatures that live there.  Watching an ant or a worm is a scientific adventure to a Toddler!

Have a safe and wonderful summer!  Thank you for sharing your child with us!
