Montessori Radmoor

Admission Process

Step 1

Schedule a tour to visit our school.  In person tours are offered Monday – Thursday mornings during the months of October through early June.  During the summer months, the tours are offered on the limited basis.  If you live out of the area you can meet with the Admissions Director via Zoom.

Step 2

Complete the Application for Admission and submit with child’s birth certificate and a non-refundable $50.00 application fee.  If applying for an older child, please use the Application for Elementary program Admission or Application for Middle School admission.

We recommend applying around one year in advance or as soon as possible.  Radmoor operates on a school year calendar with all new students starting in the beginning of the school year in early Fall.  You can apply at any time and before completing a tour.

Admission priority is based on the following criteria:

  1. Siblings of children in the program
  2. Prior Montessori experience, eg. transferring from another Montessori school
  3. Commitment to complete full Elementary program at Radmoor
  4. Attendance at all required Parent Study Program classes
  5. Balancing classrooms by age and gender
  6. Date of application

Step 3

Register and attend the required parent class –   Montessori 101.  This is a requirement in order to be considered for enrollment. We encourage parents to attend this class before the admissions process in March.

The admissions process takes place during the beginning of March when we admit students for the following school year.  We recommend applying around one year in advance. All new students (for the exception of a few toddler students who may start in January) start in the beginning of the school year in early Fall.  If we have an opening for your child, you will be notified and sent an admission packet.  As next school year’s spots become available through spring and summer, we will be offering them to the families on our waiting list.

The Montessori Toddler Program is for children around 18 months old (and who are steady on their feet) through the age of 3 years. Children will be admitted to the program up to 29 months (2 years and 5 months) of age. After that it is advisable to wait until they are old enough for entry into the Primary classroom.  We have two toddler classrooms.

The Montessori Primary Program is a three-year program designed for children ages around 3 ( minimum 2 years and 9 months or 33 months) to 6.  Bathroom independence is a prerequisite for enrollment in the Primary classroom.  Because children are considered “Kindergarten” age if they turn 5 before September 1st, those who begin prior to age 3 may require a fourth year in the Primary classroom. It is required to complete a full Montessori cycle if you are considering enrolling in the Primary community. We have four Primary classrooms.

The Montessori Elementary Program (Grades 1 -6) is designed for children with previous Montessori experience. When considering an elementary student new to the Montessori, the child will visit and the Elementary Teacher will assess academic skills and readiness for independence and responsibility of working in a Montessori Elementary Classroom.  Our goal is to ensure a successful fit for a new child as well as the classroom. We have two Lower Elementary classrooms and two Upper Elementary classrooms.

The Montessori Middle School Program (Grades 7 & 8) is where we are committed to fostering a learning environment that supports independence, responsibility, and meaningful engagement. Because our program is uniquely designed to meet the developmental needs of adolescents through a Montessori lens, we take great care to ensure that each applicant is a strong fit for our community and educational approach.  The admission process includes family interview, student shadow days, student application essay, and two letters of recommendation.

Enrollment is for a minimum of one Full Montessori Cycle (3-4 years).

Please enjoy this video by Jason Silva. He says about his work, “I was fortunately not bullied in school because I studied at a Montessori school in Caracas which did not follow a traditional pattern, but developed the art based on the passion of the student.  I was lucky to be in an environment where curiosity was celebrated and nerds were cool.”

In this video you can learn more about the importance and benefits of the Full Primary Montessori cycle.
