When Noah Wolfe thinks about his years at Montessori Radmoor, he thinks of the games he played:
* basketball, with Ben Hadlock, while he practiced learning the countries of the world during play;
* the worlds he created with friends, like Poog World, in which the whole class participated and
* the self – starter butterfly project with Ben, David McKinley and Patrick Hyatt.
“Red Admirals,” he recalls of the butterflies. “We caught them and tried to breed them.”
It’s not your typical elementary curriculum, and that has suited Noah Wolfe’s interests just fine.
The 2015 Okemos graduate attended Montessori Radmoor School through 5th grade, noting, “The independence part of Montessori was a big part of what influenced my education.” When he transitioned to public school, he noted, “The kids from public school depended on the curriculum (they received), and that was their comfort zone. They depended on it.” He adds that he had not had that structured curriculum and enjoyed the independence of learning and following his interests, “so I loved doing all sorts of things.”
He has long been interested in business, having created a successful venture fixing IPhones in high school. “Ben and I made a Pokemon card business, and we made solar cars, it’s all those small things that we did, that really add up when you look back at them. We did such fun, innovative things with our friends.”
Noah has continued to serve on the Radmoor Board of Trustees as a student liaison. But, his studies take him to the University of Michigan in the fall, where he will study engineering (an interest that began even before he spent years modifying nerf guns), and has been admitted to the university’s Roth School of Business for his sophomore year.
Neeshan Mehretu served as Noah’s teacher in Lower Elementary, and Margie Jensen served as Upper Elementary, with Christine Russell joining in later years.
