Montessori Radmoor

Dear Parents,

Autumn has officially arrived! With the unpredictable Michigan weather now would be a good time to check and see if your child’s warm clothing still fits. Please make sure they have a hat, gloves, a warm coat and boots.

Our trip to Fenner Nature Center was a success! The children enjoyed a guided nature hike detailing information about the non-native apple trees, seeds brought over from Europe, and the basic needs of the apple tree. They were able to see how apple butter making is a community event. Many people working together to peel core, slice, and cook the apples. The children then had an opportunity to stir the pot, and enjoy the tasty apple butter.

Please remember to sign up for conferences on I Volunteer. The dates are October 29 and 30th.  In general, first and second years will sign up with Ms. Danielle and third through sixth year parents with Ms. Christine.

As we approach November, there are many activities that involve volunteers. We are always happy to have numerous volunteers! Here are some opportunities: Harvest Fest which is on November 4th. There are opportunities to take children shopping, to bake with the children and help with the celebration in the afternoon. Special Person’s Day is right around the corner; soon you will be requested to provide us with an address with the person your child would like to bring to Special Persons Day. There is also the bake sale that will give the opportunity to purchase gifts for Foster Care children. Preceding the bake sale we will have a fundraiser to purchase baking supplies. We will be selling soap and bath bombs that the children will make. Thank you Autumn for helping with this project.

We are happy to announce that Emma Dunn, who teaches French to the third through 6th year students, will now be introducing French to the first through second year students.

The children have been practicing cursive and manuscript with great detail! They have also been practicing dotting and dashing with their spelling words.  The dashes help the children remember when there is a phonogram to remember.  Thirds, fourths and fifth year students are practicing with number play to ensure memorization of math facts.

We look forward to seeing you at conferences.

Best wishes,

Christine, Danielle, and Sara
