          Happy Holidays!

The children have been so busy this month with some amazing work. We are working on reading, cursive and addition. The maps of the World, Australia and The United States have been making frequent appearances. Once we return from winter break, we will be exploring the map of South America, the continent we will represent for International Night.

With the cold weather upon us, we have been talking a lot about wiping our noses (with a tissue), coughing into our sleeves and washing our hands afterwards. To wash our hands, we run them under warm water, then scrub them with soap for 20 seconds before rinsing them thoroughly. We usually sing the “Happy Birthday Song” while we scrub our hands. We are working on finding a new hand washing song. Suggestions are welcome.

Our playground is covered in snow. So we are practicing putting on all our winter gear so we can go outside and have some fun. It takes some practice getting all those layers on, especially snow pants. Please make sure your child has waterproof mittens and boots and snow pants that are easy to wear. To make things easy and routine for our friends, we have a snow-ready jingle: snow pants, boots, coat, hats and mittens.

Our guinea pigs have found a wonderful home for the winter break with one of our families. If you would like to take them home for mid-winter break (February) or Spring Break (April). Please let us know.

          Have a wonderful winter break.
