Primary 1 Classroom Blog
September 20
Welcome to all the new and returning families. It is promising to be a wonderful and fun-filled year in our environment. We hope everyone enjoyed the September 20th potluck. This was a great opportunity to meet other P1 families and get a glimpse into what happens in our classroom.
Over the last few weeks the returning students have been spending a lot of time catching up with old friends, making new friends and re-acquainting themselves with the materials in the environment. For our new students, the last few weeks have seen a flurry of new lessons, acclimating to new guidelines and finding their place within the environment. Transitions can often be difficult at the beginning of the year. We would like to thank all the parents for keeping drop-offs brief, loving and consistent so that the children can make a smooth transition.
Our classroom guinea pigs, Daisy and Carmel, have been a great source of joy and comfort. The children have been participating in caring for the animals by brushing them, feeding them and helping clean their living space. Our returning students have been instrumental in making sure that the new children learn how to carefully handle our pets.
As the weather changes, we want to make sure that that everyone can continue to enjoy our outdoor environment. Having weather appropriate outerwear and footwear allows us to go outside despite the ups and downs in the temperature. Also, having a comfortable pair of slippers to wear indoors means we can go outside even if it is a little wet and muddy!
I am looking forward to an exciting school year!
