Hello winter and snow! The toddlers had so much fun playing in the first real snow of the season this week. Thank you all for remembering to bring in such great warm clothes. I know it’s a lot to remember every day, but it makes it possible for the toddlers to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
The toddlers have been enjoying listening to different pieces of music this year at our listening station. So far we have listened to the guitar, piano, cello, animal sounds, fun sing along songs and train sounds. Every 2 to 3 weeks I introduce a new type of music, or listening experience. The toddlers can then choose to listen to it whenever they want. Sometimes this means they will sit in front of our tape recorder and quietly listen. Other times you will see them dancing or singing along, or perhaps bringing an instrument over and playing along. What we hope to do with our listening station is expose the toddlers to many different types of music, including different instruments, voices and styles of music. It is one of my favorite activities!
With our winter break coming up (Dec 23 – Jan 3), we could use some help taking care of Cocofluff (the guinea pig). If you are interested in taking Coco home over break, or perhaps, just part of the break, please let me know. I will send all of his supplies home with you. He is pretty easy to maintain, just fresh food and water, and a little daily attention to his cage.
Have a great break and see you in the New Year!
Erin!
