Hello to all of my readers. We have been talking about books lately. A few of you shared your favorite books, so I thought I’d share some of mine. Here’s my list:
Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes By: Mem Fox
Ten Black Dots By: Donald Crews
Freight Train By: Donald Crews
Everywhere Babies By: Susan Meyers
Only the Cat Saw By: Ashley Wolff
Sally Wants to Help By: Cindy Wheeler
I hope you look for these at the library and enjoy some time reading with your children.
In our toddler classroom, we have a lot of students who are toilet training right now. If your child is interested in the bathroom and likes to flush the toilet at home, chances are they are learning at school or they are watching the other children. When your child is toilet training remember to keep lots of extra clothes on hand. Make sure you have an extra pair in the car. Also, it’s easier for toddlers to be more independent if they can pull up and take down their own pants. So, pants should have easy elastic waist bands. Sweatpants work great when toilet training.
Please remember your child will be more successful with cloth training pants or underwear. Pull ups absorb too much and your child can’t feel the wetness. It’s okay for your child to feel uncomfortable in wet clothes. They will want to change. Loose clothes help your child be more aware of their body so they can make the decision to go to the bathroom. There may be a few accidents to clean up, but remember, we are fostering independence.
I would like to welcome our new student Eilia and her family to the toddler community. She joined us right after winter break.
Please sign up for the March 13th and 14th conferences through ivolunteer and look for more information about our upcoming April potluck.
Ms. Kristy
