It’s hard to believe the school year is already winding down. International Night was once again a great success. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped transform our classroom into a beautiful representation of Australia and guided our visitors through some fun activities. It was great to see both new and returning families get together, share ideas and create a loving community. Of course, the children worked very hard on planning, researching, experimenting, painting and crafting many of the wonderful displays for International Night.
Information about Australia has touched many areas of our classroom from geography and science to language and art. When we first started talking about Australia in our classroom, the first things that came to mind were Kangaroos and Koalas. So we found some books about them and other interesting animals that live only in Australia, like emu, platypus, echidna, dingo and kookaburra. We also got to learn a fun song about kookaburras. We also experienced the magic of Aboriginal dot painting as we created a mural. It certainly has been an exciting year of learning in P1. In fact, many of the children are already asking about what will be studying next year! We will just have to wait a few more months to find out.
It has been an incredible year watching the children blossom. It is truly magical to witness the interaction between the children, the material and the environment, and see the growth that takes place.
Have a wonderful summer.
