Montessori Radmoor

As many of you know conferences are coming up March 12th and 13th. This is the time of year teachers are thinking about all the milestones your child has made throughout the year and look forward to telling you about your child’s growth and development. When working with each child I also work with the parents. We share information through emails, at the door, and through conferences.

Communication between teachers and families is so important for the progress of a child. The child and I have a working relationship, in addition, parents and I have to have a relationship as well. While I know that sitting at the door in the morning for a brief period may throw your child off, it’s ok to share if your child has had a bad night, or that grandparents are in town. If the discussion has to be lengthy we can set up a time to call or email. Keep in mind the more information I have from you about your child, the better I can guide your child at school.

With toddlers the most frequently asked questions are about food and toileting. We have a toileting chart to tell you when your child uses the bathroom throughout the day. This chart gives us information especially when toilet training. If you are curious, please ask. Because the toddlers are all training right now, please tell us of consistencies at home, or how well toileting is going at home. We love to hear how well the children are doing at home or what some of those struggles may be. Even though we post what’s for snack and you may notice the lunch menu doesn’t give you specifics. My staff and I do try do give you information if we have concerns or we have noticed your child not eating well.  If the parent and the teacher are talking we can find a pattern and solve a problem together.

Since conferences are coming up, think about questions you’d like to ask and feel free to let me know ahead of time.   I can prepare handouts on subjects, such as, what comes next for the toddlers who move up to primary In the fall. For all the children who are moving up in the fall, you should have had a chance to observe in primary. If you haven’t, please schedule a time with Jamie at the front desk.

I really love working with your children and I appreciate how hard it can be to share information when we all have busy lives. You have all created these wonderful human beings that have so much potential. Communication is the best way for all of us to be on the same page and to ensure that we give your child the best prepared environment in order for that growth and development to occur.

Happy March!
